GOP Monolithism

I’m not even sure monolithism is a word. But I think you know what I’m trying to say.

A quote from yesterday’s Mitchell Daily Republic pretty much sums up how GOP leaders see their party and how members should behave:

Republican lawmaker Ted Klaudt has taken issue with the formation of the South Dakota Mainstream Coalition, saying it is unnecessary.

“We’re Republicans and Republicans are the conservative group (in the Legislature). If you want to be in the Republican Party you should believe in the party’s beliefs and support its platform,” said Klaudt, of Walker.

In other words, no room for dissent. If you don’t like it, leave the party. It’s pretty sick, if you think about it.

Hat tip to Dakota War College.

So let's see what South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds has to say ...... (actual Mike Rounds Quote!)

"Being overweight and obesity are major risk factors for many chronic diseases for South Dakotans of all ages. When people are overweight or obese, they have more health problems and more serious health problems, in addition to higher health care costs."
